Welcome to episode 124 with my guest Brandi Molitor

Brandi started off as a health and wellness advocate and educator before transitioning into the world of business.  She has been an executive level business and health coach for two decades. She mentors high-achieving leaders helping them to fall back in love with their businesses and lives.

Why is that important to her?

We began by discussing why people struggle and suffer.  Brandi believes that if a business is suffering it’s because the leader might be. When leaders become overwhelmed, unhappy, stressed, and exhausted there can be a level of disconnect on both a work and life level.  People withdraw and question themselves and their ability.

She feels that we live in a society where we are taught if we work hard enough and do everything we are supposed to do we will be successful.  And that success equals money.  So, it’s supposed to equal fulfilment, happiness, and joy.  But Brandi has spotted that senior leaders feel there’s only one way to reach this feeling of success and that is to work harder than everyone else!

It is easy to compare ourselves to others particularly with everyone playing their lives out on social media, living their best life online.  We cannot help but compare ourselves to them and often end up feeling resentful.  “What the are they doing that I’m not? Why are they successful and I’m not but I work harder?”

What else do we discuss: –

We talk about how easy it is to fall into the trap of living the life you think you are supposed to lead or one your parents wanted for you.  Too many people look for approval in a job they don’t want to be in instead of seeking and investing in a life they actually do want!  It’s very easy to disconnect from ourselves when we are allowing ourselves to be too influenced by peers or parents.

Brandi and I go on to discuss that everything we are looking for is already inside us and by being brave as Brandi puts it is like, “turning the lens inward”. You can restore and bring yourself back together.  When we feel whole and complete so much more is attainable.  Instead of doing something to achieve something in return, we do it solely because we get joy from doing it.

So many business owners end up resenting their business because they’re giving time to it, yet the business is taking so much of them. For many leaders what they want when they start out isn’t necessarily what they want later on in life.  We discuss that the remedy for stress is always when you find the right solution for you.  Just because you said you were going to be a lawyer; doesn’t mean you actually have to be one. We are all entitled to change our mind!
