As founder of https://www.mariabryceland.com/ Maria believes that extraordinary cultures drive sustainable growth. Building an extraordinary culture in your business will drive productivity, profitability and, ultimately, further your success.
So what did we cover?
We start by discussing what corporate culture is. Maria explains that it’s the way the business feels, the way the people act and interact within the business and the habits that are formed. Strategy, communication, and leadership all impact culture.
We go on to discuss how not getting these elements right can lead to ‘toxic culture’ within a business. Toxic culture can consist of varying issues such as poor communication, lack of motivation at work, being fearful of a manager, bullying, or grievances being dealt with in the wrong way. If people do not feel they are able to be the best versions of themselves due to something going on in the workplace, this will spill over into their home life. This leads to a toxic culture as work life is impacting their personal life and wellbeing.
These types of issue are bad for business. As more people experience issues that are not dealt with properly, more will leave, impacting profitability. But in the same way if a business is getting it right, positive culture can support a workforce and leaders. They become better motivated and more engaged, which in turn affects profitability. That way the business will thrive!
Here are some of the 5 Key Habits: –
- Putting the people first – creating a stable workplace is essential. A stable work environment creates stability and security especially if there are uncertainties outside of work
- Investing in leadership – by supporting leaders and investing in them you are equipping them with the tools to be able to better care for and motivate their teams
- Questioning everything – Be open to challenging strategy to better understand what needs to be changed to make it better. Be open-minded towards change
