This week’s podcast is an interview with Andres Klaric, the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Fuse, a next-gen loan origination system (LOS) that simplifies lending for financial institutions.

andres klaricOn the show, Andres talks about how he put himself through college working at a car dealership before embarking on a career on Wall Street, where he worked on investments in the tech and business sectors.

Subsequently, he embarked on an entrepreneurial journey.

Initially the plan was to work with lending but very quickly, as Andres discusses on the show, he and Marc Escapa (co-founder of Fuse) decided to pivot and concentrate on the technology and software that helps lenders turbocharge the lending process.

Looking to learn, looking to grow

Although born in the US, Andres grew up in Bolvia before returning to the US to study.

One of the things that really comes through in this interview is how he made the very best of each situation.

He shares insight into what working in a car dealership taught him, as well as talking at length about the impact Wall Street had on him.

You can’t help but notice that Andres sees the positive in the tough demands of a sales job and is proud of the stamina he developed while working on Wall Street. Back in the day he was pulling 80-100 hour weeks there, almost double what the average American works. On the show he disucsses the impact this had on him as he started his entreprenurial journey.

Pivoting and being open to change

With a broad range of skills, Andres set about getting into the lending business. However, he and co-founder of Fuse, Marc Escapa, realised that by embracing technology and software solutions they could help lenders speed up the lending process by reducing the friction it takes to get to a “Yes”.

As Andres himself puts it, he wanted to create software that would equal the playing field so smaller loan companies could compete with major corporations.

So Andres shares his entrepreneurial journey and discusses the challenges of transitioning from banking to SaaS.

The discussion also covers the significance of developing a broad palette of skills, the need to be aware of what new technology can do and the role of software in making lending easier for lenders and more efficient for borrowers.
