Welcome to Episode 200 of The Executive Edge.
This week it’s just me behind the mic.
Instead of an interview, I discuss Steven Bartlett’s book “The Diary of a CEO – The 33 Laws of Business & Life”, highlighting some of the so-called “laws” that Bartlett identifies.
Steven Bartlett, if you’ve been under a rock for a couple of years and not heard of him, is a British entrepreneur known for founding Social Chain and being the youngest ever investor on BBC’s TV show Dragons’ Den.
“The Diary of a CEO” was released in 2023 and shares insights from Bartlett’s entrepreneurial journey and life experiences, building on concepts and conversations from his popular podcast of the same name, where he interviews successful business leaders, entrepreneurs, and public figures.
The book covers themes like:
- Personal development and growth mindset
- Business leadership and entrepreneurship
- Mental health and self-awareness
- Decision-making and goal setting
As part of my discussion of Barlett’s book, I consider “The 5 Buckets of Life” he refers to in his work, which represents key areas for personal fulfillment and success:
- Health & Wellness
- Love & Relationships
- Career & Mission
- Knowledge & Growth
- Peace & Fulfilment
This includes physical health, mental wellbeing, fitness, nutrition, and overall wellness practices.
This encompasses romantic relationships, family bonds, friendships, and maintaining meaningful connections with others.
This covers professional goals, business ventures, purpose-driven work, and career development.
This involves continuous learning, personal development, acquiring new skills, and expanding one’s understanding.
This relates to emotional wellbeing, spiritual growth, finding contentment, and achieving inner peace.
For executives & leaders
Drawing on examples taken from my own life, as well as things I’ve come across during my work as a speaker and business psychologist, I suggest some of the things that you, the listener, might want to consider as you continue your journey through business and life!
Thank you!
On a personal note, thank you to everyone who subscribes to the show.
I already have a stack of great interviews in the can, ready for 2025.
Thanks again for listening!
